The teenager identified as Cai, killed her newborn baby after she became convinced she could not take of him

The young woman has been sentenced to a prison term of three years with a four-year probation period for intentional homicide, on Thursday, by Huqiu District People’s Court in Suzhou City, China.

She received a suspended sentence after she was found guilty of killing her baby by throwing it out of an eighth-floor window.

According to a statement issued by the court, the mother, who was 17 at the time, gave birth to her baby in a toilet at a rented apartment in August 2015.

“When Cai, who had no inkling that she was pregnant, heard her newborn’s first cries, she panicked and threw her out of the bathroom window to avoid any unwanted attention from her neighbours,” the statement said.

Cai got pregnant during a drunken one-night stand with an underage boy she had met online, she told the court she could not even remember the name of the baby’s father.

The court heard the case in a private session and gave a lighter sentence as underage juveniles were involved.

However, the court did not disclose the judgment date.
