The NCAA reminded travelers that airlines are legally required to compensate them when bags don’t arrive as scheduled.
Michael Achimugu, the Director of Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has sent a message to airline passengers.
In a video he shared today on X, he reminded travelers that airlines are legally required to compensate them when bags don’t arrive as scheduled — a rule many Nigerians are still unaware of.
He said:
"Hello, air travelers. I'm Michael Achimugu, Director of Consumer Protection at NCAA. If your luggage doesn't arrive: domestic flights get 10,000 Naira immediate compensation; international >$100, or $170 if airline non-compliant per NCAA. Always request it. Arrive early for check-in/boarding. Never be late. Thank you."
