A Pakistani television reporter from GTV was dramatically swept away by powerful floodwaters during a live broadcast while reporting on the intense monsoon flooding in Kot Chatta.

In the video posted by Al Arabiya English on Facebook, the journalist can be seen standing in water up to his neck, microphone in hand.

While reporting, the rushing current gets stronger and stronger. Only his head and the mic-holding hand are visible before he suddenly lost balance and was pulled away by the rushing water. He disappeared from sight in a few seconds.

The incident, captured live on camera, quickly went viral on social media and drew mixed reactions—some applauded his bravery, while others questioned the safety risks involved.

Since June 26, Pakistan has been experiencing intense monsoon rains that have led to deadly floods, displacing thousands and damaging homes, roads, and crops. Official reports show that a minimum of 116 lives have been lost and more than 250 injured.

Thankfully, the reporter was later confirmed to be safe, but the footage has reignited discussions on media safety and the increasing dangers posed by extreme weather conditions across South Asia.
