FCT Police PRO, Josephine Adeh, has shared a message on social media addressing women who remain in toxic relationships simply because the men pursued them relentlessly before they agreed to date.

In a post on X, Adeh shared a personal experience she had with a woman who was in an abusive relationship and visited her in her office on Friday, July 18.

Adeh said when she inquired from the lady why she remained in the abusive relationship despite the several attacks she had suffered, the young lady to her surprise responded: ‘’He chased me for years before I agreed to date him.”

Adeh then went on to address women with such mentality.

Her post reads: ‘’As the Public Relations Officer I listen to different experiences everyday. Yesterday, I had a  young lady in my office who shared her experience in an abusive relationship. I asked her: What made you stay? She said, “He chased me for years before I agreed to date him.”

The truth is, chasing is not the same as loving. Some men chase out of ego, competition, or the thrill of the pursuit, not necessarily because they value you for who you are. When the chase ends, the real character is revealed. That’s why it’s not about how long someone pursues you, but why they’re pursuing you and how they treat you once they have you.

As for conscience  yes, some men have it, some clearly don’t. The same goes for women. But when someone consistently hurts others, disregards their feelings, or plays mind games, that’s not a lack of conscience that’s a sign of immaturity, selfishness, or emotional emptiness.

So no, don’t settle for someone just because they chased you.

Settle for someone who shows up with love, respect, and consistency not performance.

And most importantly, don’t let someone’s brokenness make you question your worth.

My gender, make we shine our eyes.''
