How A Suspected Vandal Got Electrocuted In Ebonyi

According to TCN, security operatives informed the state-owned firm about the incident on July 19, 2025, adding that the vandal’s accomplices fled after the electrocution.

Transmission Company of Nigeria has explained how a suspected vandal attempting to vandalise its tower at Ezilo along the Nkalagu-Abakaliki 132 kV transmission line in Ebonyi State was electrocuted to death.

TCN disclosed this in a statement on its X account on Thursday.

According to TCN, security operatives informed the state-owned firm about the incident on July 19, 2025, adding that the vandal’s accomplices fled after the electrocution.

This comes as TCN warned against acts of vandalism.

“Vandal electrocuted at Ezilo, Ebonyi State, while attempting to tamper with Tower 34 along the Nkalagu-Abakaliki 132 kV transmission line. Security operatives informed TCN on July 19, 2025, that the accomplices fled after the incident,”
TCN wrote on X on Thursday.

In 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, TCN said 264 of its electricity towers were vandalised.
