Nigeria Adds 50.4MW to National Grid — Power Minister Adelabu

Adelabu disclosed this on Thursday during the commissioning of the project pioneered by FGN Power Company in collaboration with Germany’s Siemens Energy.

 
Nigeria’s minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu has announced that an additional 50.4 megawatts has been added to the country’s national grid.
 
This followed the commissioning of a 63 megavolt-ampere and 132/33 kilovolt mobile substation in Eleyele, Ido GA of Oyo State.
 
Adelabu disclosed this on Thursday during the commissioning of the project pioneered by FGN Power Company in collaboration with Germany’s Siemens Energy.
 
The minister said the project would be of benefit to households and business owners in Apete, Ologuneru, Sango, Ibadan and other areas in Oyo State.
 
He explained that the initiative is part of the government’s plan to contribute an additional 302.4 MW through six mobile stations to the country’s transmission network.
 
Adelabu added that another 50.4MW mobile substation is near completion in Federal University of Technology Owerri.
 
“With today’s commissioning at Eleyele, an additional 50.4 MW is added, bringing the total to six mobile substations, contributing an additional 302.4MW to the transmission network,” he stated.
 
In June, the Director General of the Energy Commission, Mustapha Abdullahi, said President Bola Tinubu’s administration added an additional 2000MW to the national grid.
 
Recall that the country’s electricity generation fluctuates between 4500MW and N5148MW for an estimated population of over 250 million people.
