Before her passing, Clarita Ogar made national headlines for her role as an expert witness in the Labour Party’s legal challenge against President Bola Tinubu’s election victory.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Hon. Clarita Ogar, the party’s former House of Representatives candidate for the Yala/Ogoja federal constituency.

In a tribute posted on his official 𝕏 account, Obi eulogised Clarita Ogar as a brave and unwavering advocate for justice and national transformation, describing her demise as a profound loss to the Obidient movement and Nigeria at large.

“With a weighty heart, on behalf of the entire Obidient family, I regret to announce the untimely passing of our dear sister and comrade, Hon. Clarita Ogar,” Obi wrote. “She was the Labour Party House of Representatives candidate for Yala/Ogoja in the 2023 General elections.”

Obi disclosed that he had recently reached out to her family, only to be confronted with the heartbreaking news of her death. He extended his condolences on behalf of his family and the broader Obidient movement, lauding her courage and dedication.

“Clarita Ogar was not just a patriot but also a fearless woman who stood for justice and a better Nigeria,”
he added.

“May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may God give her family and all of us the fortitude to bear her sad, irreplaceable loss. God Almighty continue to bless her family and all the Obidient family always.”

Before her passing, Clarita Ogar made national headlines for her role as an expert witness in the Labour Party’s legal challenge against President Bola Tinubu’s election victory.

Ogar, a seasoned cloud engineer and architect, had been subpoenaed to testify about the role of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the firm contracted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to support the 2023 polls.

Contrary to INEC’s claim that technical hitches hampered real-time transmission of results on February 25, 2023, Ogar testified that the AWS platform did not experience any technical failure on the day of the election.

Ogar had also taken legal action against INEC after her name was excluded from the final list of candidates contesting for the House of Representatives seat in Yala/Ogoja under the Labour Party platform.
