Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has reacted to the current protest against Nigerians in Ghana.

She appealed for calm.

Recall that some Ghanaians have been demanding the deportation of Nigerians from their country.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, said there is no cause for alarm over the demand by Ghanaians to send Nigerians out of their country.

Bianca, who made the appeal on Wednesday during a joint press briefing in Ghana, said the viral videos had caused anxiety, necessitating her visit to the country for a firsthand assessment of the situation.

She said since arriving in Ghana, she has not seen people burning tyres in the streets or carrying placards everywhere demanding the deportation of Nigerians.

According to her, it showed that the Ghanaian government and the president had intervened in the situation.

“I would say there’s no cause for alarm, they are handling the situation effectively, and we will continue engaging stakeholders. We have met with some of the leaders and individuals involved in a bid to de-escalate tensions,” she said.
