Residents of a community in Durban, South Africa have made a thief take the walk of shame after they caught him with stolen items.
According to Daily Sun, the thief was allegedly caught stealing pots and taps yesterday and was stripped n*ked and made to do a walk of shame before apologising to residents.
Also, the community of J section in KwaMashu, north of Durban, made him swear never to steal from them again!
Speaking about the issue, a resident explained how the thief was caught.
“We caught him, but he refused to open his bag. When we looked inside we saw he had stolen pots and taps,” said the resident.
“An angry crowd soon formed and started beating him. We do not want people to come and steal from us. We bought these taps and pots. I am sure the man is a whoonga addict, judging by the way he walked," the resident added.
Police spokesman Major Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident.
“The victim was allegedly assaulted by the community and sustained serious injuries. A case was opened at KwaMashu Police Station,” he said.
