Fish Magnet’s Murd£r: VeryDarkMan In Anambra, Stages Walk Over Insecurity (Video)

Before the protest, police authorities in Anambra had warned the activist against using the protest to cause a breach of peace.

Popular activist Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, led a peaceful walk in Awka, Anambra State's capital, to draw attention to the rising insecurity in the region.

The activist had last weekend announced his arrival in Anambra State, stating that the walk is to be staged over the recent kidnap and k!lling of a young businessman, Mr Martins Onyekere, the CEO of Fish Magnet, a company that deals in fresh and dried fish.

During Tuesday walk, thousands of youths all dressed in black attire stormed the streets with the activist, rallying at the popular Aroma Junction before moving to Ring Road Junction, Awka, where the slain businessman had his office.

Before the protest, police authorities in Anambra had warned the activist against using the protest to cause a breach of peace.

A statement by the State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga read: “The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu has issued a stern warning to social media influencer Mr Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan.

“He cautioned him against making statements or taking actions capable of inciting tension or breaching public peace within the State.”

The Command advised the activist to allow the family of the deceased to mourn their son in peace, without holding a gathering that can upset in the peace of the state.

“CP Orutugu urged residents and visitors alike to go about their lawful duties without fear, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order. He further advised social media users and public figures to exercise restraint and avoid spreading misinformation or making inciting remarks.”

The protest march is still ongoing as at the time of this report.

The protest march has been joined by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Media, Mr Ejimofor Opara and several other government representatives.
