The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, in a statement, explained that on August 2, 2025, the dangerous items were discovered following a credible intelligence report received by the police.

Arising from concerns over the unchecked movement of materials from conflict-ridden areas, unexploded military-grade bombs and a cache of weapons hidden inside a waste consignment transported into Kaduna state from Borno state have been recovered by the Kaduna State Police Command.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, in a statement, explained that on August 2, 2025, the dangerous items were discovered following a credible intelligence report received by the police.

He further explained that in Kudandan Industrial Area of Kaduna South Local Government Area, the explosives were found at a scavenger company.

Hassan stated that a specialised team from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, led by its commander, promptly responded to the scene, pointing out that after a thorough examination, the suspicious items were confirmed to be unexploded ordnance (UXOs).

He said “the EOD operatives safely evacuated the explosives to a secure location for controlled demolition, in line with safety protocols.”

The spokesman said that police recovered additional weapons, including one locally fabricated revolver pistol fully loaded with six rounds, 15 rounds of 7.2mm live ammunition, 3 live cartridges and other assorted ammunition during the operation.

CP Rabiu Muhammad, the Commissioner of Police, instantly ordered the sealing of the facility to allow a complete sweep by EOD personnel, ensuring no further explosive devices were left behind.

He warned scavenger companies to halt such operations immediately and condemned the transportation of scrap and waste materials from insurgency-prone areas into the state.

He said investigations were ongoing by operatives of the command to trace the origin and intent behind the transported explosives in the state.
