Hashim said the reported interest of Jonathan, Atiku and Obi to return to PDP and contest for the party’s presidential ticket was in the interest of democracy.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has said he will be happy to see ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi contest the presidential election in 2027 under the PDP.
According to Hashim, the reported interest of Jonathan, Atiku and Obi to return to PDP and contest for the party’s presidential ticket will be in the interest of democracy.
In a statement by his media aide, Hassan Mahmoud, the PDP chieftain said their possible return would enhance the idea of inclusiveness.
Parts of the statement read: “The more, the merrier, a robust and competitive primary will not divide the PDP, rather, it will reassert its credentials as the true party of democracy in Nigeria.
“If Jonathan, Atiku, Obi and others wish to contest, they should be welcomed.”
