In a recent radio interview, the artiste claimed he received only about N1.5 million out of a $20,000 advance, alleging that the label took the rest.
Fido, the Nigerian singer, has made some accusations against his former record label, Inner Circle Entertainment.
The singer accused his former record label of withholding 95 percent of the advance payment for his hit single ‘Awolowo’.
In a recent radio interview, the artiste claimed he received only about N1.5 million out of a $20,000 advance, alleging that the label took the rest.
The ‘Joy is Coming’ hitmaker also alleged that his financial dispute with the label caused a major setback in his music career.
“I was transparent with you guys. Even when I was with you guys, you took all my advance from me. The advance that I was given for Awolowo you guys took 70% from it,” he said.
“What am I even saying, they took 95%. They just gave me only like N1.5 million out of $20,000. This is the first time I’m saying this and it’s true, there’s facts to all these things.
“We’re working on the situation now, and what stopped whatever progress I was supposed to make was because of these issues I was having. People never knew that that was what I was facing.”
Fido, who broke into the mainstream with the release of ‘Awolowo,’ began his career with Inner Circle Entertainment.
He had earlier claimed that nobody discovered him, arguing that he found his own path with God’s guidance.
Fido also accused Inner Circle Entertainment of withholding his music financial records and lacking transparency.
In February, his record label Oosha Records announced a partnership with the independent music company EMPIRE.
