Serial Motorcycle Thief Nabbed After He Posed As A Buyer And Absconded With Bike During Test Drive In Kano

The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the suspect, Dahiru Junaidu, was arrested after he posed as a buyer at a shop and absconded with a motorcycle during a test drive.

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a suspected serial motorcycle thief believed to be connected to at least twelve reported cases of theft.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the suspect, Dahiru Junaidu, was arrested after he posed as a buyer at a shop and absconded with a motorcycle during a test drive. 
 
“On 11th August 2025, at approximately 1:30 PM, the Command received a report from a resident of Doraja Quarters, Kano, regarding a motorcycle theft incident. According to the report, an unknown individual approached the victim’s shop, expressing interest in purchasing a motorcycle. During a test drive of a Lifan Hajoe motorcycle, the suspect fled the scene, absconding with the motorcycle,”
the statement read.
 
"Acting swiftly on the report, the Command initiated an intelligence-led investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Dahiru Junaidu, a 45-year-old male residing in Hotoro Quarters, Kano. The stolen motorcycle was successfully recovered during the operation.
 
"During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in multiple motorcycle thefts and has been linked to twelve (12) reported cases of similar crimes. Investigations are ongoing to uncover additional details and recover other stolen property.
 
"The Kano State Police Command urges anyone who has had their motorcycle stolen through similar methods to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
