Kano Police to Punish Officers Seen In Viral Video Assisting Politicians to Share Money

The Kano State Police Command has said it will punish officers seen in a viral video assisting politicians share money.
 
The command vowed to take disciplinary actions against officers captured in viral video.
 
Recall that the video currently circulating on social media was alleged to have captured events during the just concluded by-elections in the state.
 
However, a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the incident occurred “after a ceremony at the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government House on 10th July, 2025.
 
The PPRO clarified that the video did not emanate from the Saturday re-run and by-election.
 
“The investigation revealed the officers were deployed for security at the event, during which they were regrettably seen engaging in unprofessional conduct.

“The Command assures the public that appropriate disciplinary actions are being taken against the erring officers to maintain the integrity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force.

“We remain committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline and ethics while ensuring the trust and confidence of the public”, the statement added.
