Court Orders Internet Fraudster To Carry Placard With Inscription: 'Internet Scam Brings Disgrace To My Myself And Family' For 30 Days

Delivering judgment in the case, the judge ruled that the convict shall carry a placard with inscription: “Internet scam brings disgrace to my myself and family”.

Justice Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, convicted internet fraudster Alege Abdul-Lateef and sentenced him to 30 days of community service.

Alege was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on fraudulently impersonating foreign nationals by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. 

Delivering judgment in the case, the judge  ruled that the convict shall carry a placard with inscription: “Internet scam brings disgrace to my myself and family”. 

The Judge also ordered the EFCC and Nigerian Correctional Services, NCoS, to supervise the exercise.
