The source said the police have not disclosed the identity of the woman or the medical facility where she is receiving treatment.

A woman accused of kidnapping narrowly escaped death on Thursday morning after an angry mob brutally beat her at the popular Ipata Market in Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to SaharaReporters, it had earlier been reported that the suspect had been lynched by a mob.

However, a fresh update confirmed that she survived after being revived following a police rescue.

Eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that the suspect was assaulted by traders and passersby who accused her of attempting to abduct a child.

“She was beaten to a point of death, but miraculously survived after the police quickly intervened and rushed her to the hospital,”
a source said.

The source said the police have not disclosed the identity of the woman or the medical facility where she is receiving treatment.

Eyewitnesses said items reportedly recovered from her included four ATM cards and some documents.

The incident has stirred tension in the area, as it comes barely three months after a man narrowly escaped lynching in Ilorin when he was accused of attempting to kidnap a child.

On that occasion, the police also intervened and rescued the suspect from the mob.
