A Nigerian man, Chinedu Victor Ogba has remembered his father, Sunday Okechukwu Ogba and two siblings, Chigozirim,17, and Eberechi, 14 who d!ed after eating suya.
He remembered them on their fourth anniversary.
According to him, the trio and four other extended family members, aged 3, 9, 10, 12, d!ed after eating Suya on August 25, 2021.
The tragic incident occurred in Umueze Umuakanu community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State
Taking to his Facebook post on Monday, August 25, 2025, Chinedu said he will forever treasure their memories and continue to live a life he believes they will be proud of.
“Today marks four years since I lost my beloved dad and my dear siblings in an unexpected tragedy that changed my life forever. Not a day passes without thoughts of you all,” he wrote.
"I choose today to honor your lives, the love you gave, the laughter we shared, and the bond we will always carry. Though you are gone from this world, you are never gone from me. Rest on, Dad. Rest on, my dear siblings. Your memories remain my treasure, and I will continue to live in a way that makes you proud.”
It was gathered that on the fateful day, the four children and their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chibuzor Ikwunze of Umuagu, Umuhu Ohuhu in Umuahia North LGA, visited the Ogba family where they all ate the Suya that Sunday Ogba bought.
The deceased persons started vomiting after eating the roasted meat delicacy and d!ed shortly after.
Mrs. Jessy Chinonyerem Ogba and her daughter Ijeoma Blessing miraculously survived after being hospitalized.
