Five Women D!e As Mining Site Collapses In Niger State

The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Budu village, where an illegal mining pit caved in and trapped the victims.

No fewer than five women have lost their lives after an illegal mining site collapsed in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Budu village, where an illegal mining pit caved in and trapped the victims. 

The victims were identified as Tani Abubakar, who was pregnant, Farida Mustapha, Farida Sule, Khadijat Abdullahi, and Zainab Usman, all residents of Budu and Panbi villages. 

“Security operatives visited the scene, where the victims were exhumed and rushed to the General Hospital, Paiko.

"Sadly, they were confirmed d3ad on arrival. Their corpses have been deposited at the hospital for autopsy.”
