Momodu said all competent and qualified Nigerians should be allowed to contest for the presidency.

Veteran journalist, Dele Momodu has claimed that the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party to zone its presidential ticket to the South is unconstitutional.

According to him, all competent and qualified Nigerians should be allowed to contest for the presidency.

In a post on X, he wrote: “There was never a zoning. Yar’Adua died but PDP never insisted on power remaining in the North.

“Jonathan could have governed for a total of 9 years if he defeated Buhari in 2015.

“OBJ (8) + GEJ (5) + TINUBU (4) from 1999 to 2027 = 17 years out of 28 = 11 years to the North. If Tinubu wins fair and square in 2027, so be it, and if opposition beats him black and blue, he should pls go back home, in peace.

“Never. Zoning is not in our Constitution and I believe every competent and qualified Nigerian should have a chance to run for the highest office.”
