A witness said the driver, who was alone in a Volkswagen Pickup van with registration number ARP 192XA, had parked by the roadside near the checkpoint.
In what will come across as a really startling development, a driver identified as Mr. Isaac Ugwu Anayo was discovered d3ad in his vehicle near a police checkpoint in Abaji, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
A witness said the driver, who was alone in a Volkswagen Pickup van with registration number ARP 192XA, had parked by the roadside near the checkpoint.
According to daily trust, some policemen later approached the vehicle and discovered the man inside the van with foam coming out of his mouth.
The police immediately alerted FRSC officials, who rushed to the scene.
An anonymous FRSC official confirmed the discovery of the deceased inside the pickup van.
He said the police at the checkpoint alerted the FRSC officials, who rushed to the scene and transported him to the hospital, where doctors confirmed him d3ad.
He added that the man’s body has been deposited at the Abaji General Hospital and that contact has been established with the deceased’s family through a phone recovered from the vehicle.
A police source at the Abaji division also confirmed the incident.
