The student claimed the lecturer forcibly violated her and was later taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
A senior lecturer at the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Dr Samuel Ojogbo has been accused of s3xually assaulting a 20-year-old female undergraduate.
Ojogbo is now under investigation.
The police began investigating the matter after a 300-level student lodged a formal complaint on August 28, 2025.
The student alleged that Dr Ojogbo assaulted her inside his office on August 22, 2025, around 12 noon.
She claimed the lecturer forcibly violated her and was later taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The UNILAG management confirmed it is aware of the case and disclosed that it had been officially reported to the police.
The institution also revealed that its Safeguarding Centre is currently providing support and counselling to the student.
Speaking on behalf of the university, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, Head of UNILAG’s Communication Unit, said the institution has constituted an investigative panel to review the allegations. She assured that the findings will be made public upon conclusion of the inquiry.
“The University of Lagos remains committed to a safe and supportive environment for all students. A thorough investigation will be carried out, and justice will be ensured,” she stated.
Alaga-Ibraheem also urged students and staff to promptly report any cases of harassment or misconduct through the school’s established reporting channels, reiterating UNILAG’s zero tolerance for s3xual harassment.
