The red chamber, however, stated that her matter could not be addressed until the court rules on the matter.
Former Kaduna State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Mark Jacobs, has stated that suspended Kogi Central lawmaker, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, should be reinstated to resume her duties in the Senate.
Recall that the Senate on Tuesday acknowledged the lawmaker’s notice, informing the upper chamber of her intention to resume after the expiration of her six-month suspension.
The red chamber, however, stated that her matter could not be addressed until the court rules on the matter.
Reacting during an interview on ‘The Morning Brief’, a programme on Channels Television on Wednesday, Jacobs argued that Natasha does not need the finalisation of a judicial process to resume sitting at the National Assembly.
“What I see is a further display of impunity gone wild. The Senate has always insisted that nobody, including the courts, should interfere with its constitutional powers to discipline members,” he said.
Recall that Natasha was suspended in March over a violation of the Senate’s rules.
She, thereafter, challenged the matter in court in July and made an unsuccessful attempt to resume sitting.
