Power has been restored in Abuja after Nigeriaโ€™s national power grid collapsed on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

However, other parts of the country are still in total darkness.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), in a public notice shared on its ๐• handle, confirmed the incident, stating that the outage was caused by a loss of supply from the national grid.

โ€œPlease be informed that the power outage currently being experienced is due to a loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 am today, affecting electricity supply across our franchise areas,โ€ the company said.

AEDC assured customers that work was ongoing to restore supply, adding: โ€œRest assured, we are working closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure power is restored once the grid is stabilised.โ€

Hours later, the Nigerian National Grid announced that restoration had commenced.
