NAPTIP has called for the immediate rescue of a woman known for using her children to beg for alms.

The government agency reacted after a new video making the rounds on social media shows a dramatic confrontation between a man and the woman whom he had recently helped with the sum of N550,000.

Exposing the woman, the man stated that he had an agreement with the woman that she would use the money to get a shop and start a business.

However, he was shocked to see the woman back on the streets with her children begging for alms.

In the clip, the man approached her and asked, “Do you remember me?” She replied yes, and he quickly questioned why she was still begging despite the huge support she received.

The woman then claimed her husband ran away with the money the very same day she got it. But the man wasn’t convinced. He insisted that she never mentioned a husband before and accused her of “just cooking up” the story.

He kept grilling her, saying she was only making her children suffer and, worse, trying to ruin his own reputation since he also had to solicit help from others in order to raise the N550k he gave her.

Reacting to the viral clip, Nigeria’s anti-human trafficking agency, NAPTIP, dropped a response on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

“Abeg even if na to add location once once, e go help us to dey locate these cases. Those kids need to be rescued ASAP.”
