He disclosed this in a recent media briefing amid his face-off with the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and others.

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Refinery, has stated that Nigerian engineers working on his 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery outperformed their Indian counterparts.

He disclosed this in a recent media briefing amid his face-off with the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and others.

He is speaking, affirming his contribution to job creation in Nigeria.

According to him, due to the exceptional performance of the Nigerian engineers he hired to build his $20 billion refinery, they have been poached as expatriates in Qatar.

“The biggest challenge for us is how do we create jobs?

“I can tell you today when we built this refinery, the Nigerian engineers we hired performed better than the Indians. Eighteen of them are now expatriates in Qatar,”
he said.

He added that his new fertiliser plant will be built by a majority of Nigerians.

“For this new fertiliser plant we are building, the majority of the engineers will be Nigerians,”
he said.

Recall that NUPENG had accused Dangote Refinery of anti-labour activities over the company’s engagement of drivers for its Compressed Natural Gas trucks for petroleum products distribution nationwide.

However, Dangote Group has denied NUPENG allegations.

Stakeholders in the country’s downstream oil sector had kicked against Dangote Refinery’s venture into fuel distribution; however, the oil firm has the initiative for the good of the country.

Dangote Refinery, which began fuel rollout in September last year, announced the kick-off of its petrol distribution scheme on Monday.
