The former VP, in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday said there is nothing to cheer about the governor’s reinstatement by President Bola Tinubu.

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has said there is nothing to celebrate about the reinstatement of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

According to Atiku, Fubara's suspension in the first place was illegal.

The former VP, in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday said there is nothing to cheer about the governor’s reinstatement by President Bola Tinubu.

Recall that the president on March 18 declared a state of emergency in Rivers following the protracted political crisis in the state.

The governor and his deputy alongside all the state lawmakers were suspended for six months.

Upon the expiration of the initial six-month suspension, the President on Wednesday lifted the suspension and allowed the leaders to resume office.

Reacting, Atiku said explained that the president lacks the power to suspend a democratically elected leader.

According to him, “lifting the suspension of Governor Simi Fubara is nothing to cheer about.

“The suspension of the Rivers State Governor and the State House of Assembly was unconstitutional when it was done six months ago and is still illegal today.

“President Tinubu had no power to suspend a democratically elected governor and state lawmakers.

“The Rivers shenanigans only signpost the dictatorship of the Tinubu administration”.
