Osun Teachers Yet To Receive Salaries Against Rumours

There have been strong rumours that the teachers in Osun state have been paid their salaries but the National Union of Teachers, Osun chapter have moved to debunk the rumours.

 
Bank alert rumours hit  Osun state during the weekend as the workers earnestly await the payment of their salaries which the government has failed to keep up with for over 7 months. Rumour mongers claimed the government was paying for three months.
 
According to Punch, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers in Osun State, Mr. Wakeel Amuda, swiftly debunked the uncomfirmed reports of the payment of salaries as false. He responded to the claims through a telephone interview accusing politicians of being behind the rumours for the purpose of improving the image of the Governor in the news media.
 
"It is all lies. We have not received any alert. Some politicians are behind the rumour. A politician told me that a civil servant had received salary alert around 12noon today ( Sunday). I followed him to the person but there was no evidence that his salary has been paid. it is a lie", Amuda said.
