Actress Eniola Ajao has taken legal action against a blogger after a video recorded at the funeral of Odunlade Adekola’s father went viral and stirred online controversy.

The actress revealed that the blogger, identified as Adabasioni Oluwafemi Aseoro, was arrested and prosecuted for defamation under Nigeria’s cybercrime laws.

She explained that the video was edited in a misleading way and damaged her reputation, which led to the case being pursued in court.

The blogger was held at Ikoyi Prison for two weeks before offering an apology.

Ajao said she chose to forgive him after the apology but warned others who spread damaging content online that they could face legal consequences, including jail time.

She added that she would not hesitate to protect her image if attacked in the future.

The actress also expressed gratitude to CSP Mariam Ogunmolasuyi and activist Aghedo Stephen for their support during the legal process.

She wrote on Instagram: “I can confirm the arrest and prosecution of Adabasioni Oluwafemi Aseoro, a blogger for criminal defamation and cyberbullying under the Nigerian Cyber Crime Acts.

“He assassinated my character, he paid for it in full.

“Some people are saying two weeks is too small. I forgave him all because of his mother and wives… To err is human, to forgive is divine.

“If you think you can defame people online because it’s a free space, you will meet the course of the law… Your seven years imprisonment is loading.”

The controversy began weeks earlier when the funeral video showing Ajao hugging Odunlade’s wife drew criticism.

Many viewers claimed her body language appeared strange, while others accused her of faking distraction during the service.
