The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at the ICE facility located on the 8100 block of North Stemmons Freeway.

Gunfire at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas has left two detainees dead and another injured.

According to Sky News, authorities confirmed that the shooter, believed to be a sniper, was found dead on the roof of a nearby building with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at the ICE facility located on the 8100 block of North Stemmons Freeway.

"Preliminary information is a possible sniper," ICE acting Director Todd Lyons told CNN.

The victims, according to ICE, were being escorted into the building for processing and possible repatriation when the assailant fired several rounds from an elevated position. Officials said the detainees were the only ones struck, though it remains unclear whether they were specifically targeted.

Police reported receiving a call around 6:40 a.m. local time (12:40 p.m. UK time). Two victims were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds, while one died at the scene. Ambulances and police vehicles surrounded the secure entryway as the situation unfolded.

ICE clarified that no agents were hurt during the shooting, despite concerns expressed by some political leaders.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the casualties in a post on X, stating that the attacker was also dead.

She said, “There was a shooting this morning at the Dallas  @ICEgov Field Office. Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities.

“The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

“While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop.

“Please pray for the victims and their families.”

US Vice President JD Vance added: "The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop. I'm praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families."

Attorney General Ken Paxton also reacted, saying: "We will continue to do everything in our power to combat the alarming increase of targeted attacks against ICE and all law enforcement by evil, twisted individuals."

Authorities stated that investigations remain ongoing, with a media briefing expected later in the day.
