Eyewitnesses said the assailants, reportedly wearing APC jerseys and wielding weapons, targeted parts of Malami’s convoy and hurled insults at his supporters. No casualties were immediately reported.

The convoy of former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, was on Friday attacked by political thugs while departing a wedding ceremony in Argungu, Kebbi State.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants, reportedly wearing APC jerseys and wielding weapons, targeted parts of Malami’s convoy and hurled insults at his supporters. No casualties were immediately reported.

The incident comes a month after a similar attack on Malami’s convoy in Old NITEL road Birnin Kebbi during a condolence visit, raising concerns about the growing use of thuggery in Kebbi State politics.

The attacks have also sparked discussions on social media, with many expressing alarm over the involvement of political affiliates in violent acts.

Observers described the incidents as a worrying sign of escalating political tensions in the state, potentially undermining Kebbi’s traditionally peaceful political culture.

Security agencies have been urged to investigate the incident, ensure the safety of political leaders and citizens, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
