An overhead water tank holding thousands of litres of water has burst, injuring several families in the Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

He said, the incident, which occurred at midnight on Thursday, took place near the railway line at Shirinya Quarters.
According to the statement, the powerful blast from the burst tank caused injuries to residents living close to the water station.
The victims are currently receiving treatment at the Malam Madori General Hospital, and no deaths have been reported.
The overhead tank for years served as a major source of water supply to residents of Shirinya Quarters and neighbouring communities.
A community member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the tank had required repairs for a long time. He added that local residents had formed a committee responsible for collecting funds from users to maintain the facility.
Reacting to the incident, Chairman of Malam Madori Local Government, Salisu Sani Garungabas, assured that urgent measures would be taken to restore the water facility and ensure the community continues to benefit from it.
He also sympathized with the affected families and promised the council’s support for their recovery.
