They gave Rufai Oseni and Arise TV 24 hours to tender an apology to their leader, Dave Umahi. They say failure to so that they would lead to a continuous protest.

A group of youths in Ebonyi State staged a protest in Abakaliki, the state capital, accusing Arise TV reporter Rufai Oseni of “disrespecting” their former governor and current Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.

Umahi and Oseni clashed on TV two days ago when Oseni, during an interview with the minister, asked him to tell Nigerians the cost per kilometer of the ongoing Lagos-Calabar coastal road, Umahi appeared visibly agitated by the question, declaring himself “a professor of practice in engineering” and dismissing Oseni’s inquiry as “elementary.”

He argued that road costs could not be calculated uniformly because each kilometre presented unique engineering challenges. However Oseji refused to back down and insisted the minister answered the question. He continued pushing and asked the minister to keep quiet and allow him speak.

The protesting youths say Rufai's comments to the Minister which includes ‘’If you can just keep quiet and allow me speak, I will be happy'' are disrespectful and that he must apologize.

"That young man Rufai Oseni had the effrontery, the guts to ask Dave Umahi to keep quiet in the face of the whole wolrd. As it that was not enough, he accused him of reporting him to Mr President. Who is Rufai for godsake?''
