Taiye Taiwo who is currently out of favour in the Nigerian national team has taken a swipe at the coaches who he accused of being induced with gifts from footballers for a favoured selection in the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles left-back defender Taye Taiwo, has accused Nigerian coaches of being guilty of bribery and corruption as footballers lobby them with gifts to get included in the team.

In his words;

“Unlike others, I didn’t offer gifts to the Nigeria coach to be selected,” he told Football Africa 365. “Unfortunately, it’s still happening.”

He reaffirmed his stand against corruption in the national team with the strong claim never to bribe any coach to get favoured.

“I’m not going to be someone who owe their selection to gifts to the coach,”
he reiterated.

The left-back has terminated his contract with Turkish club Bursaspor because of unpaid wages and is in France looking for a new club.

Taiwo said: “The French league is my favorite, it’s my adopted country and my city Marseille. I would love to return, I spent my best moments, my family, my friends are there. I remain a strong supporter of OM. If Jean-Claude Dassier had been able to manage a football club, I would still be in Marseille.”
