Abducted Sokoto University Graduate Regains Freedom After Ransom Payment

Recall that bandits abducted Ojedeyi around 2:00pm on September 29, 2025 along Mashegu local government in Niger State through the Felegu and Ibbi road.

 
Basheerah Ojedeyi, a newly inducted Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) radiography graduate has been released by k!dnappers.
 
She regained her freedom weeks after she was abducted on her way home after paying ransom. 
 
Recall that bandits abducted Ojedeyi around 2:00pm on September 29, 2025 along Mashegu local government in Niger State through the Felegu and Ibbi road.
 
Her abductors demanded a ransom of N200m and later reduced it to N10m after several negotiations. 
 
The kidnappers gave the family one week ultimatum and a warning that failure to pay the ransom within the timeframe would result in adverse consequences.
 
The National Association of Osun State Students, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto Chapter (NAOSS-UDUS) confirmed her release in a statement on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
 
The statement signed by the association President, Adedamola Adam Oluwafisola through the general secretary, Olarinde Sodiq Opeyemi disclosed that she was released on October 13. 
 
“We owe the good people of Nigeria an eternal gratitude and appreciation for supporting and hastening the release of Radiographer Ojedeyi Basheerah” the statement partly read. 
 
“We pray no Nigerian should witness this and may God watch over all. "
