According to the agency, these fraudsters have now gone spiritual in their quest for illicit wealth.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a serious warning to Nigerians.

The anti-corruption agency raised alarm over the disturbing new trend among internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys.”

The agency lamented that fraudsters have now gone spiritual in their quest for illicit wealth.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Friday, October 17, the EFCC referred to the suspects as “G Boys,” revealing that many of them now engage in ritual activities to boost their fraudulent operations.

The commission expressed concern that what used to be a purely digital crime has now taken on spiritual and ritual dimensions.

The EFCC warned Nigerians to remain vigilant, noting that this new practice is becoming more common among young people desperate for quick money.

The agency stated that it is fully aware of these developments and will not hesitate to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In its post, the EFCC wrote: “G Boys are now going spiritual involving themselves in ritual and making it the new usual. EFCC will come for any individual then, it won’t be business as usual.”

The commission reiterated its commitment to fighting all forms of internet fraud and money-related crimes, warning that no form of spiritual backing or ritual practice will protect offenders from facing the consequences of their actions.

It also assured Nigerians that the agency remains steadfast in protecting society from the harmful effects of cybercrime.
