The Yobe State Police Command has launched an investigation into the discovery of the lifeless body of a 45-year-old woman found near the Federal University Gashua (FUG) in Bade Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, today October 18, said that the deceased person identified as one Falmata Abubakar, a resident of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua, was found dressed in a black hijab.
According to the statement, the command said it received a report from one Yusuf Sarkin Baka, a resident of Sabon Daula Ward, Bade local government area, concerning a lifeless body of woman discovered near the fence of the Federal University in Gashua.
Upon receipt of the report, a team of police operatives from Gashua Division swiftly visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
The police spokesman said that the body was immediately evacuated to the Specialist Hospital, Gashua, where it was examined and confirmed de@d by a medical doctor.
He said preliminary investigation was initiated and the corpse was later released to the deceased’s family after autopsy for proper burial according to Islamic rites.
However, further investigation revealed that the deceased’s body was transported in a vehicle and dumped at the location where it was found, approximately two kilometres away from her residence.
The statement added that, “this new finding has intensified efforts by detectives to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind the act.”
