They Were Beaten – Sowore Confirms Arrest of Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer, Brother

Sowore explained that there was no prior provocation from the protesters before the alleged attack.

 
Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore has made an allegation against the federal government and Nigerian police after being attacked during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.
 
According to him, security operatives fired shots and tear gas at the protest grounds on Monday morning.
 
Speaking with Channels TV, Sowore explained that there was no prior provocation from the protesters before the alleged attack.
 
He confirmed that Aloy Ejimakor, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB was beaten and arrested by the police.
 
According to him, they lawyer and Kanu’s brother were physically assaulted by the police before they were arrested.
 
He said, “We started the protest in front of the Transcop hotel and security operatives came, army, police, civil defence, I started telling them that we are not enemies that the protest is not about them, then suddenly, they started shooting at us with tear gas and some live bullets were fired.

“Luckily, nobody was hit by the bullets but they were just shooting all around us. Eventually, they arrested some people. I heard that Nnamdi Kanu’s brother was arrested and beaten.

“The lawyer, Ejimakor was also arrested and beaten before they were taken to the FCT command.

“It was an unprovoked attack from the police force.”
