The Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of Senegal released a statement announcing that Toure's lifeless body was found after his family was unable to raise the full ransom demanded by his captors.

The Senegalese Ministry expressed its "deep compassion to the grieving family," and a spokesperson stated the investigation was being carried out "with the greatest attention and priority." Toure's body is currently being processed for repatriation to Senegal.
