Resident Doctors to Begin Indefinite Strike on Nov 1

The President of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr Mohammed Usman Suleiman announced this in a communique.

 
Resident Doctors in Nigeria have announced a new date to embark on nationwide strike.
 
According to the union, the strike will be total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike" with effect from November 1 2025.
 
The President of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr Mohammed Usman Suleiman, while reading a communique issued at the conclusion of its Extraordinary National Executive Council meeting, directed members to do a ward round and hand over their patients to consultants.
 
Among the 19-point demands include the immediate commencement of specialist allowance payments to all doctors, in recognition of their pivotal role in delivering specialist medical care across healthcare institutions nationwide and immediate correction of all entry-level placements of doctors to their appropriate salary grades, as well as the decentralisation and streamlining of promotion and upgrading processes to enhance efficiency in training and clinical service delivery.
