In a viral video, she questioned why some UK-based Nigerians offer extremely low rates for video editing, citing a recent instance where she was offered ₦50,000 to edit 16 videos in one month.

A Nigerian video editor has sparked online debate after voicing her frustration over what she described as “ridiculous” pay offers from Nigerians based in the United Kingdom.

In a viral video, she questioned why some UK-based Nigerians offer extremely low rates for video editing, citing a recent instance where she was offered ₦50,000 to edit 16 videos in one month.

“Are Nigerians living in the UK broke? Because how would you tell me to edit 16 videos in a month for ₦50,000? Do they need help?” she asked, adding that such clients often behave as though they are doing freelancers a favour.

She further noted that she rarely encounters pricing issues with clients in Nigeria, Canada, or the United States, but finds those in the UK particularly difficult to negotiate with.

“This week alone, it has happened three times. They give ridiculous prices and make it look like they’re helping us. I don’t understand—am I the only one facing this?”
she lamented.

Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many creatives agreeing with her concerns, while others attributed the situation to exchange rate differences and budgeting habits among Nigerians abroad.
