According to the spokesperson of the command, DSP Henry Okoye, the arrest of the suspects followed an order from the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, who directed immediate action to effect their arrest.
The Imo State Police Command has announced the arrest of five suspects who ass@ulted Mrs. Ndidiamaka Agu for cooperating with law enforcement during an ongoing investigation in her community.
According to the spokesperson of the command, DSP Henry Okoye, the arrest of the suspects followed an order from the State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, who directed immediate action to effect their arrest.
Okoye stated that the attention of the command was drawn to a viral video showing Mrs Agu being ass@ulted in Emekuku, Owerri North LGA, by the suspects and one other person who is still at large.
He indicated that, acting on the commissioner’s directive, operatives of the X-Squad Unit swung into action and arrested the suspects, whose names were given as Onyekachi Njoku, Chiazor Osuji, Chukwuma Iwuala, Eugene Njoku and Emmanuel Njoku.
Okoye further stated that the five suspects have made confessional statements admitting their roles in the ass@ult on the lady.
He added that the sixth suspect, identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, is still at large, and operatives of the command are intensifying efforts to apprehend him.
“The Commissioner of Police condemns the ass@ult in its entirety and reaffirms that intimidation of citizens who lawfully cooperate with the police will not be tolerated. The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court soonest with the appropriate criminal charges,” Okoye stated.
