How A Woman Was Rescued Alive After Falling Into A Well In Kano

The Kano State Fire Service has reported that its emergency responders successfully rescued a woman who fell into a well in Gafiyawa town, Kumbotso Local Government Area, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

According to the Fire Service, the distress call came from a resident, Ibrahim Sani Hausawa.

This is in a statement signed by ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of the agency in Kano.

The agency said, “After receiving the call, immediately our men mobilize to the scene. On arrival, they discovered that an old woman of about 65 years, named Khadija Muhammad, according to her relatives she is mentally retarded.”

The officials said the woman was brought out alive. They added that it was “By God’s intervention, and through the swift efforts of our men” that she was rescued and later handed over to her brother, Malam Ibrahim Dahiru.

The Fire Service director urged residents and property owners to secure wells in their homes or compounds by building up the edges and installing metal covers to prevent people or animals from falling in.
