Goodluck Jonathan, the former Nigerian President, has safely returned to Abuja, Nigeria, following his evacuation from Guinea-Bissau after a military coup.
The former president landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport On Thursday evening, November 27.
Jonathan, who led the West African Elders Forum Election Observation Mission, had been in the country monitoring last Sunday’s presidential and legislative elections before the military announced it had seized power.
There had been apprehension amongst Nigerians about the safety of the former president.
However, he was successfully airlifted out of Guinea-Bissau on Thursday evening.
