Chief of Defence Staff, Oluyede Reveals What Service Chiefs Discussed With President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday urged the nation’s service chiefs to devise and implement new strategies to deliver results in the ongoing fight against insecurity.

The focus of the meeting was disclosed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, who spoke to newsmen after the closed-door meeting between President Tinubu and the service chiefs.

Earlier, Tori News reported that the President held an emergency meeting on Tuesday at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja with the security chiefs.

According to Oluyede, the meeting was quite engaging as the President gave new direction and directives intended to achieve better results in the fight against all forms of insecurity.

The Chief of Defence Staff promised Nigerians that the security agencies are working together to ensure that Nigerians celebrate the yuletide in peace.

Other key figures present at the meeting included: Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke; ​Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt. General Emmanuel Undiandeye; Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi; and Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday in Abuja, donated ₦200 million to the Nigerian Legion, assuring that the government will give more attention to the well-being of the military, injured officers, and the families of fallen heroes.

This was disclosed in a statement by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who attended the ceremony, donated ₦100 million on behalf of the National Assembly.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, donated ₦20 million.

President Tinubu spoke at the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal launch at the Presidential Villa.
