Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said the government is monitoring the situation.

The Federal Government has confirmed it is investigating the detention of a Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft in Burkina Faso after it made an emergency landing in Bobo-Dioulasso on Monday.

The jet is reported to have allegedly violated the country’s airspace.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said the government is monitoring the situation.

“We are monitoring the situation and will issue a statement when we receive adequate information,” Ebienfa told reporters.

On board the Nigerian Air Force aircraft were 11 people – two crew members and nine soldiers. They made an emergency landing while flying in Burkinabe airspace.

A statement from Burkinabe authorities “highlighted the absence of authorisation to fly over the territory of Burkina Faso for this military device.”
