According to him, the men approached a church worker, demanded to know where he was, and only left after he refused to disclose the information. They reportedly dropped their phone numbers and left.

The Pastor of Zion Church in Ijoko, Ogun State, Olawoye Kayode, has sounded the alarm, claiming that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) are attempting to secretly monitor, intimidate, and possibly abduct him due to his ongoing criticism of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.

In a video seen on Thursday, Kayode alleged that two young men who claimed to be DSS officers from the agency’s Abeokuta command stormed his church four days earlier, asking for his whereabouts without giving any official reason for their visit.

According to him, the men approached a church worker, demanded to know where he was, and only left after he refused to disclose the information. They reportedly dropped their phone numbers and left.

“When I returned, I called the numbers on Monday, the 8th of December. One of them said he is a DSS officer and that they have a new boss transferred to Ogun State who wants to see me for a ‘familiarisation meeting’. I asked him why. He said, ‘Oh, you are becoming a stakeholder in Ogun State,’”
Kayode said.

The cleric, however, insisted that he informed his lawyer and senior church leaders, who advised him that any DSS invitation must come formally through a documented letter.

“I represent the Christian body in Ogun State, nearly 70 percent of our population, and I also speak for the grassroots suffering under this present administration. My fathers in the faith and my lawyer told me clearly that if DSS wants to invite you, they must send a formal letter,”
he said.

Kayode added that after he requested the letter, the officer claimed there was “no problem,” a response he interpreted as a red flag.

“For you to say there is no problem means there is a problem,”
he said. “So I asked him whether someone somewhere was angry about what I’m doing. He said he would get back to his boss. I am still waiting for the letter.”

Meanwhile, the cleric said credible intelligence reaching him suggests unknown men, described as suspected DSS operatives, have been seen driving around his church premises in black SUVs.

He maintained he would honour any legitimate invitation but only with proper documentation and in the presence of his lawyer.

Kayode has in recent months accused Governor Abiodun’s administration of failing the state, insisting that Ogun has become “backward and paralysed” due to collapsed infrastructure, especially roads.

“In six years plus, there has been no development. When roads are bad, everything is bad,”
he said.

“People are losing their businesses, their homes, relocating to Lagos. Someone told me he had to shut down his company and dismiss staff because Ogun roads destroyed his business.”

He also condemned the governor’s alleged nonchalance, claiming Abiodun once said he was “laughing” at the criticisms and complaints over the state of roads.

“I am not afraid of anybody. If DSS wants me, they should send a letter,”
he declared.

“Ogun State shall be great again. Every power of darkness fighting the progress of this state will go down. We will not bow to intimidation.”
