The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday arraigned Chris Ngige, former Minister of Labour and Productivity, over allegations of contract fraud.

The ex-Anambra governor was arraigned on an eight-count charge before a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gwarimpa on Friday.

Upon arraignment, Ngige pleaded not guilty to all the counts.

In the charge dated October 31, the commission alleged that Ngige used his position to confer undue advantage by awarding multiple contracts to associates and companies linked to him.

Recall that Ngige was governor of Anambra from 2003 to 2006, and Labour Minister from 2015 to 2023.

On December 11, Fred Chukwuelobe, his media aide, shared that the ex-governor was in EFCC custody following rumours that he had been kidnapped.
