An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast has reportedly claimed the lives of four people along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

It was gathered that the device planted by suspected armed bandits, hit a Toyota Eagle Eye vehicle carrying an undetermined number of passengers from Gwashi.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the device detonated at precisely 0832hrs, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, causing panic among commuters on the route.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA along with Tactical teams as well as bomb disposal experts, were promptly mobilised to assess the scene and secure the area.

The attack was suspected to be orchestrated by Sadiku who collaborated with the faction of Dogo Gide. Authorities have warned travellers to exercise caution on the road.

However, a member representing Bukkuyum at the Zamfara State House of Assemly, Hon. Hamisu Fasu, who confirmed the incident to journalists said four people were confirmed d3ad.

“So far, four people have been confirmed d3ad after their vehicle hit what is suspected to be a bomb or IED,” he said.

“Security operatives have since arrived the scene and are working to determine whether additional explosive devices were planted along the route.”
