Syrian Man Reportedly Commits Su!cide By Ingesting Insecticide In Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the incident, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Gawon Nama Zaga Road in the state capital.

A Syrian national who had lived in Sokoto State for more than 40 years has reportedly d!ed in a suspected su!cide after allegedly ingesting insecticide.

According to the police, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) received a distress call from one Tukur Registrer, following a report by a 16-year-old boy, Ahmad Aliyu of Gagi area, who said his employer, identified as Abdulrahman Badenjki, had been found ingesting mosquito insecticide.

The boy reportedly ran into a nearby mosque to alert worshippers after discovering the incident.

Police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene, where they found Badenjki unconscious on his bed. A container of Executor mosquito insecticide was found placed on a blue plastic chair next to him.

The police said the scene was photographed and secured for investigation, while the victim was rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto.

“He was confirmed de@d on arrival by a medical doctor,”
the police said in a statement.

The deceased’s body has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, as authorities seek to establish the exact cause of de@th.

A source within the Command confirmed to security expert, Zagazola Makama, that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (DC CID), has visited the residence and taken over the case for a “discreet investigation” into the circumstances surrounding the de@th.
